Banner 9 Admin Pages

  • User Name and Password are used for Banner 9 Admin Pages access
  • An account is created for a new Banner 9 Admin Pagesuser using their S# as the account ID
  • The user creates a password
  • The S# is also used for the network user id.
  • The passwords are maintained individually and expire after 6 months, after which they need to be reset. A service request should be put in so that the password is reset.

Forgotten Password

  • If the user forgets their Banner 9 Admin Pages password they need to simply reactivate their account through http://activate.smu.ca.  

What access does the authorised user have in Banner 9 Admin Pages ?

  • Faculty and staff administrative users have access in Banner 9 Admin Pages . They don’t all have administrative access. What they have access to will depend on their role in the organization. There are user roles and user groups which provide access to different functions and data within Banner. For instance someone working on the student service centre in an account receivables role may have access to student fee information but not student course marks or someone working in a financial role may not have access to employee information. The department chair, department head, manager or other level of authority makes a signed request, approved by the Banner data custodian, to the ITSS Security Specialist on the Banner Authorisation Request form for administrative user access.
