AST Self-Service Password Reset
This article will help you change your password when you've already logged in and know your current password, as well as how to reset your password if you can't log in to your Email and Brightspace account.
Note: In order for this to work, you would need to have setup security methods on your account such security questions or the authenticator app according the article HERE. If you're not able to login to your email to setup a security methods, contact the AST Helpdesk at ithelpdesk@astheology.ns.ca
The recommended password to set on your account is a 15-character password that contains common letters, capital letters, numbers, and special characters.
Reset your password if you're unable to login to your account
Step 1: At the initial login screen when you visit portal.office.com, click 'Can't access your account?'
Easier way: Go directly to the link https://aka.ms/sspr and follow from Step 3.
If you're having trouble getting to the screenshot below, please try going to incognito/private mode of your browser and visit portal.office.com. To go into incognito, click on the three dots on the top right corner of your browser and select new private window or incognito window.
Step 2: Select 'Work or school account'
Step 3: In the first field, enter your AST email. In the second field, enter the characters in the CAPTCHA that is generated for you. Click Next..
Step 4: On the left column, choose which security method you want to use to reset your password.
If you choose security questions method, select 'Answer my security questions' in the left column then answer the three questions on the right column then click next.
If you have the the authenticator app setup, select 'Enter a code from my authenticator app' method on the left column, and enter the 6-digit one-time password code from your mobile device authenticator app.
Step 5: Enter the new password in the first field, confirm the new password in the second field and hit 'Finish'.
Step 6: Your account password has now been reset to the new one you provided. Visit portal.office.com if you wish to login to your Office365.
Reset your password if you already know your current password
Please follow the instructions below to reset your account password after you've logged in to Office365
Step 1: Please visit portal.office.com in your browser and sign in with your AST account which will take you to the page below. If you're already logged in, go straight to Step 2.
Step 2: Click on your profile with your initials on the top right -> then click on 'View account'
Step 3: Select 'Password' on the left panel
Step 4: In the new page, enter your old password (current password) then enter your new password in the 'create new password' and 'confirm new password' fields and hit 'Submit'
You've reset your password to your AST email acount and Brightspace!
