AST Account Setup
As a new student/staff/faculty, when you login for the first time you will be prompted right away to setup Self Service Password Reset in the event you need to reset your Brightspace and Email account password. At this time we are moving forward with two options, the MS Authenticator App (mobile device and will also be used for Multi Factor Authentication in the coming months) or security questions. If you select security questions, you are offered 10 to choose from, 5 are required to be configured and 3 of those 5 would be used to self reset a password at any time.
Please follow the instructions on the screen to get setup:
Step 1. Visit portal.office.com and login with your AST email. Click Next..
Step 2. To setup your account with security questions, click on 'I want to set up a different method' shown in the screen shot below and continue reading this article. To setup your account with Microsoft Authenticator, click HERE to visit an article for steps. (It is advised that you setup your account with both security methods).
Step 3.1: Click the drop-down menu where it says 'Choose a method'
Step 3.2: In the drop-down menu, select 'Security questions'
Step 3.3: Click 'Add'
4. Select a question in each five drop-down menus then write your answer in the line below it, then hit 'Done'.
Congratulations! You're all setup to use your account!
