What is Beauceron and Cyber Security Training?

Beauceron is a licensed cyber security awareness training platform available for Saint Mary’s University community. It is a computer-based cyber security awareness training program for students, faculty and staff. The focus of the training will be on cyber security awareness education and email phishing simulations - which will serve to test knowledge acquired by the users and effectiveness of the training. Your Cyber Risk Score

Beauceron will give you a cyber risk score which is an at-a-glance representation of your cyber security knowledge and personal risk. Your risk score includes information on your exposure to cyber threats, awareness level and whether you have had any real or simulated incidents. Your score improves as you complete each step of the process.

The goal is to aim for a lower score, which indicates that you are relatively cyber-aware. A higher score indicates that there is room for improvement. The colour of your risk score will indicate where you are on the spectrum of cyber awareness. A good score will be green, an average score will be yellow, and a poor score will be red.

The image below shows 3 types of risk Scores, Good Average and Poor.

Good risk score: This means you are relatively cyber-aware and have scored highly in your surveys and education.

Average risk score: This means you are doing okay but have some room for improvement. You can improve this score by identifying phishing simulations and scoring higher in your education surveys.

Poor risk score: This means you are highly at risk and need to improve your cyber security. You can improve this score by identifying phishing simulations and scoring higher in your education surveys and Quizzes.

There is a gamification aspect to the training as your risk score is reduced by the amount of training you take and by reporting suspected phishing emails you receive.

Knowing your cyber risk score can help you in your efforts to stay aware of cybersecurity risks and threats.
