How to make Outlook the default mail application for your Windows PC

Due to a Microsoft policy update effective October 2022, all Saint Mary’s University Email account holders will only be able to access email using supported applications. For this reason, your SMU email account will no longer work on the default Windows Mail app or any other third-party email clients. Here's how to make Outlook your default mail app on Windows.

 

Step 1. From your Windows desktop, click the search button in the bottom left of the screen. Then, type in "default apps".

 

Step 2. Find and click the option that allows you to select your default app to use for email.

 

Step 3. Select "Outlook" from the list.

 

Step 4. You're done!
