Important changes to Saint Mary’s University Zoom accounts, and storage of recordings saved to the Zoom Cloud.

Zoom logoExisting Recordings

Recently, Saint Mary’s University reached its storage limit on Zoom Cloud, which resulted in a number of recordings being moved to the trash bin, inside individual accounts. These recordings are still accessible but must be downloaded as soon as possible to ensure they are not permanently deleted. Detailed instructions on accessing deleted recordings, downloading them, and uploading them to OneDrive and Brightspace can be found here: https://youtu.be/fhW7jAy9b2M

Future Recordings

Zoom Cloud is not intended to provide permanent storage for your recordings, and it is recommended that you save recordings locally to your device. Recordings that are saved to Zoom Cloud must be downloaded as soon as possible, as they will be automatically deleted within 180 days.

To save your Zoom recordings locally, choose the Record on this Computer option when you select Record during a meeting.

Should you have any questions on downloading recordings or changing your settings to record locally, please consult our website: https://studio.smu.ca/zoom or email the Software and Application Support Centre at sas@smu.ca
