SMU-Wifi/Smu-Guest Not Appearing

To improve our wireless capabilities around campus we have installed new wireless access points.

However, this causes some devices with older wireless cards or driver to not see the SMU-Wifi or SMU-guest network.

Known Chipsets with this Issue (please add as you encounter new ones):

Intel Dual Broadband AC7265

Intel Dual Broadband AC 3160

NOTE: If your laptop has our SMU SSIDs listed in the list but gives "could not connect" and you have a Qualcomm Atheros wireless card, please check your laptop brand's website for the WiFi card update since Qualcomm does not offer driver support.

Here are some steps to resolve the issue:

Click on the START ICON and enter " Device Manager"  In the type here to search bar

Once it's open up look for Network Adapter, this will show the Intel Wireless Adapter and number (example Intel Dual Broadband AC 3160)

Then visit:

In the product name bar, enter your card (for instance AC 3160)

Select the IntelĀ® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for IntelĀ®  (this may be different for each user)

then download the version compatible with your system. (most systems would be 64 bit)

Once the installation is complete run the setup.
