Telephone Extensions and calling the university

All Saint Mary's phone numbers use extensions, or four-digit numbers, so that you only have to dial the extension when calling from a campus phone. For example, the EIT Help Desk can be reached from a campus phone by dialing 8111. If you are calling from off-campus, however, you will have to dial more than just the extension.

2000 extensions can be reached from outside the University by dialing (902) 491-8667 and entering the extension. These numbers can also be reached by calling the department secretary or the University's Switchboard at 420-5400.

3000 and 4000 extensions can be reached from outside the University by dialing 491-8668 and following the prompts.

5000 extensions can be reached from outside the University by using a 420 prefix (eg. 420-5678).

6000 extensions can be reached from outside the University by using a 491 prefix (eg. 491-6789).

8100–8299 extensions can be reached from outside the University by using a 496 prefix (eg. 496-7890).

8600–8699 extensions can be reached from outside the University by using a 491 prefix (eg. 491-5309).

8700–8799 extensions can be reached from outside the University by using a 496 prefix (eg. 496-7890).
